I didn’t realize this was religious fiction when I requested it but even thought that’s generally not my thing I still found this book pretty enjoyable and not over the top on religious themes or trying to push a message. You are able to read it without feeling like you’re being preached at or anything. This is a pretty easy read as far as historical fiction goes. The language is modern English so you’re not trying to read anything out loud to figure out what the author is getting at. It’s also very well researched and I learned a lot about the time period that I didn’t previously know. This period has always interested me but I just never had picked up a book from this period. All in all, a good book.
