Mary Elizabeth Chapman is happy as life is in Holland. She is able to visit her mother’s grave, take fresh flowers and ask her advice on things. So imagine her surprise when she and her best friend Dorothy overhear plans being made to go to the new world, America. This was not her idea of how her life would go.
But her family was picked as one of those to go and now she’s aboard a leaky ship called the Speedwell bailing water with the other passengers. She now notices a crack at the bottom of the ship enlarging how will they keep up with that. Of course that is where the preview ends.
Historical fiction in this timeframe up to the mid 1800s is probably my favorite genre so this book looks like a great fit for me.
This is a new author for me and this book was actually already on my Goodreads shelf to be read.
