The Mayflower Bride offers a wonderful ride through the story of Mary Elizabeth Chapman and William Lytton. The novel is beautifully written and offers great imagery to imagine what did or could have happened as the new world was coming to be. The voyage for these individuals was no easy trip. The story opened my eyes to the struggles, triumphs, and trials of the individuals that were looking for a fresh start in a new place.
The writing style is at times wordy and was hard to follow for a few pages but you soon get in the swing of it. It’s interesting to read from a historical perspective of events that transpired in the building and development of the new colonies and world. Plenty of romantic ups and downs along the way and plenty of surprises. I loved it!
