Historically correct but a little slow.

While Mayflower Bride appears to be historically correct, story development seemed a little slow and tedious. I typically like historical fiction, especially Michener, but I had a hard time finishing this book. It seemed a little too predictable.

I realize that the times were more formal during this period but it didn't really show me anything new about the era. I like to learn something new while reading historical fiction and this book just didn't meet my expectations. Perhaps a reader unfamiliar with the historical period would find it more interesting.

I appreciate the work and research the author did to prepare for this book. The pages and information in the front of the book seem intimidating at first glance but the story doesn't rise to the historical significance that is hinted at initially.

I guess if I had read this as a romance novel and not historical fiction, I may not have been as disappointed.
