Ever since I re-discovered the genre of Christian Fiction, I have been seeing this book everywhere - and everywhere there was praise for it.

This is a sad, yet hopeful read. Mary Elizabeth has endured losses that some, especially today, would break and never come back from. Her resilience was inspiring and uplifting. She became a beacon of light and hope throughout the book.

As this is a Christian book, there was scripture throughout and it was a delight to see it.

This also gives a much needed insight to the early settlers - what they did to come over, what they went through during the journey, what they went through when they arrived. The legacy they built, and what they have left behind.

It is as much a love story as a part of our history. It shows the endurance of a people who had so little and made so much of it.

I truly recommend this read!
