I was once a huge fan of historical fiction- as a child and young teenager, it was essentially all I read. As an adult, I have been reading much more contemporary fiction, science fiction, and the occasional book set in the 1950s-80s.
As this was my first foray into historical fiction in quite some time, I can't compare it to what else is currently available, but I can say that I will definitely be picking up more historical fiction titles in the future since this book has re-awoken my interest in historical fiction.
I greatly enjoyed the writer's descriptive writing style and her attention to historical detail. I quickly found myself completely immersed in the setting and was essentially unable to put the book down until I was finished. Great job!
