This book was slow for me to read. The description of the book matched to the story but I just couldn't quite get into the book. I understand how harsh making a life change is for those who took the risk to come to this country when it was not even know how they would survive, would they make it, what would the ocean journey be like and what would happen once they landed. The journey on the ship is always fraught with danger. This book shares that story and tells how these people lived through the authors imagination of how the journey went. It should help us relate to how we find ourselves in similar journeys. I can't say if it was historically accurate because I just don't know. However I found the book fun but a bit slow.
