hank you Celadon for the advance copy in return for a review, all opinions are my own.

This book was......wild?!

Okay, so I want to start by saying that the way Mariana was written felt...off, like something about her being written as a female character just does not sit right with me. Some of the female descriptions and phrases used really just threw me off, but that is really my only complaint with this book.

Come across anyone who reads this book and they will either tell you: I knew the twist right away, or I did not see that coming. I am in the latter group. I knew what people were saying about the book so I was keeping my eyes open and immediately suspicious of every new person introduced into the book. Even the one guy in theater we met a grand total of one times!

I felt constantly on edge, questioning every person that came across my page and wondering what their motives would be. What actually happened felt so out of left field, I almost thought that information given early in the book was false! But the situation that brought along the twist feels icky to me, and high inappropriate. That sentence may not make sense if you have not read the book, but once you do you will see what I mean.

Everything was perfectly laid out and executed, and it was a thrilling ride reading through this novel. So many red herrings and small situations to throw you off the scent! I enjoyed the references to Greek tragedies, but be aware that Greek mythology and "the maidens" is in fact a very small part of this novel. More like they were mentioned but not central to the story.

Overall, the female characters had weird writing, but looking past that the story is well done. I was kept guessing until the end, and I did a lot of guessing, but I was still blown away. I am glad I got the chance to read this thriller, I only wish there was more Greek mythology woven throughout.
