Ok, first of all, this was not as good as The Silent Patient. Come at me bro.

And second, I think this book was still good.

That being said, there were a few things that I did not love about The Maidens.
There were a lot of red herrings in this book. So much so, that it was semi distracting. I did not feel like some of them added to or moved the story along well at all, and could have totally been put to rest early on. It also felt a little unbelievable that every time the main character met a guy, the guy was hitting on her.

I loved the nods to The Silent Patient that were put into the book. It was fun to see how the background of that story played into some of The Maidens. It definitely made me want to go back and read it! There was also a good twist in the plot that felt like it had a good slow build and then seemingly popped out of nowhere. That's something that I think Michaelides does really well in his books.
