This book checked all my thriller must haves!!!
My thoughts on the Maidens.
🔪 it’s dark academia with a creepy goth setting that I loved.
🔪 the book is filled with Greek Tragedy specifically with Persephone the maiden. I’m learning I enjoy books that have a mythology aspect.
🔪 There’s a secret society of women led by a male professor known as the Maidens.
🔪The Maidens are being murdered one by one.
🔪The MC, Mariana’s niece Zoe was close to one of the first murdered maidens. So, Mariana inserts herself into the investigation to protect Zoe.
🔪 The ending was twisty which was also the case in Michaelides’ previous novel.
🔪 I figured it out partially…..but not the why, and the why put me over the top. It was a jaw dropper for me.
I enjoyed both the Silent Patient and the Maidens, they are both solid thrillers. I gave The Maidens 4 stars and look forward to Michaelides’ next book!
