When I got the opportunity to get an advanced copy for Celadon Books for Alex Michaelides' sophomore book, The Maidens, I knew I had to take it! I thoroughly enjoyed his 2019 release, The Silent Patient, so I had high hopes for his next book.

Like with The Silent Patient, The Maidens keeps you on the edge of your seat, wanting to know what comes next. Michaelides has a talent for keeping his readers guessing. I love how he keeps suspicion levels high, where you start to try to solve the mystery before its revealed.

Though I have almost all nice things to say about this book, there is just a couple *tiny* things that got me to knock a star off. For a book called The Maidens, it doesn't feature the group as much as I would have hoped. Also, while the ending was great, it did feel a little rushed, and it left me wanting more. For instance, we find out the who and why of the murders, but I would have liked to have known how the killer was able to get their victims alone at the crime scenes. But these are nitpicky, small criticisms. The book was a great read, and I would highly recommend it to thriller lovers!
