Psychological Thriller
Mariana is a group therapist and widow. She gets a call from her niece, Zoey, who is at university in Cambridge when a body is found and Zoey believes it's her roommate whom she can't find. Mariana travels to Cambridge to comfort her niece and ends up staying when tragedy strikes a second time and Mariana believes the police are focused in the wrong direction.
This is a psychological thriller but had a more of a "who did it" vibe than anything else. The writing was great and I found myself questioning things just as Mariana did but there wasn't a real thriller or suspense feel to it. I still liked the entire atmosphere of the book and wondered if Mariana was just losing it or whether she was on to something. The Greek tragedy aspects woven throughout the story were great.
I would say if you like a mystery, especially one with an academic setting, this would be a great book for you. I had not read the author's first book but have added it to my TBR as this was an intriguing well-written read that was tough to put down.
