I've never read something so unoriginal in my life. There's not a single sentence in this book that you couldn't find in another. Cannot believe this ever got past editing, it's that bad.
Random red herrings everywhere, very forcefully and haphazardly thrown in. The ultimate twist is boring, with the feeling that the author really just wanted to go for the "least expected person".
It's titled "The Maidens" but the maidens are a tiny part of the story and frankly completely irrelevant. There's some attempt to pull a The Secret History bs but it fails completely. The fact that it's set in a university has no impact on the story whatsoever.
The characters are all entitled and unlikeable, and behave in completely unbelievable ways. Very forgettable. Not quite sure why only the main character is female.
Only redeeming thing about this book is the cover; way too well-made to be wasted on a book like this.
