After being blown away by "The Silent Patient" I wanted to love this book so bad but it just didn't do it for me. The story line fell flat and the "plot twist" semi revealed itself about half way through the story.

The things I did like about the story are the Maidens themselves. I think the concept of a group of "Maidens" is so interesting and I wish the story focused more on that. I am also a fan of longer books with short chapters which makes the reading process more enjoyable.

When the plot twist revealed itself I was honestly surprised it was so cheesy. I kept thinking the whole time "there's no way this can be it" and when it was revealed I couldn't hide my annoyance.

This book had such potential, in my opinion, for so much more when it came to the thriller and mystery aspect but just didn't land for me. I will definitely keep reading Alex's story because he is a great story teller but this one just wasn't a winner for me.
