I am a long-time fan of psychological thrillers, I absolutely loved The Silent Patient and knew that I had to read The Maidens once introduced to it. I had very high hopes because of how much I enjoyed Michealides' other work. I can say with complete honesty that I was not disappointed in the slightest!!! I was even more amazed when I realized that the storylines between the two books are delicately interwoven. As a fan of The Silent Patient, this was a detail that I thoroughly enjoyed.
In addition to a wonderful story, I really enjoy the writing style of Michealides and am hopeful that I will get to read more of his work in the future. There were times throughout the book that were slow, but just as I was beginning to drag, the story gained speed and drew me right back in. I honestly couldn't put this book down; a true page-turner. This book inspired me to read more books within the dark academia thriller genre.
