Between the ok plotline and the horrible characters, this book was nothing extraordinary. It had the potential to be a great dark academia thriller, but it unfortunately fell flat. There were too many story lines that felt like they didn't lead to anywhere and just tried served as distractions. The way the mystery itself wrapped up felt rushed and was a poor attempt at shock value. When reading, it was way too clear that our women characters wee written by a man with no insight into women. Any and all of the different issues brought into the book (mental health pedophilia, rape, grooming, etc.) felt disrespectful both to the characters and to people who actually have to go through these very real issues. Not enough was done to make these issues real in the book and less of plot devices and shock content. I am extremely disappointed and will probably avoid reading from him again.
