I have never read a book by this author, so I really wasn't sure what to expect when I read the sneak peek excerpt.
My initial thought was that Mariana was relatable in her grief and trying to figure out how to let go and move forward in life, especially with the small things that we don't even realize have become part of our routine. As I continued reading, she became even more well developed as a character.
The excerpt includes a scene from a group therapy session in which Mariana is a therapist facilitating the group therapy session. One of the patient's has become overly attached to Mariana, which has impacted not only how he interacts with others in the group but also impacts how he's interacting with Mariana and essentially stalking her. I'm a therapist in real life, so this particular portion of the excerpt was creepy and made me glad this was just a book. I can't wait to get the book and see what happens.
