This was a great read, better than The Silent Patient (which was also good, but quite predictable for me).

The Maidens was less predictable, at least for me, and it was much faster paced.

It wasn't quite what I expected but still a fantastic read and a great dark academia story (a genre I've come to love).

The author focused a lot on the characters but, in a unique fashion, more so on the male characters, which is a refreshing style for this type of story. Being titled The Maidens, that was unexpected.

Nice twist, atmospheric, and fascinating story. I would highly recommend, especially if you like books set in college towns &/or on university campuses, or any kind of dark academic mysteries or thrillers (I also love boarding school stories, for a comparison of my own personal taste). I'm a big Donna Tartt The Secret History fan, much of the reason I chose to read The Maidens. The genre is similar but the stories are nothing alike.

This is sure to be a big hit and probably an instant bestseller.
