This novel was a slow burn Psychological Thriller. It took a while for me to really get into it and want to finish it, but I am glad I did. I appreciated that it took place in the same world as The Silent Patient, almost seemed prequel-ish to an extent, but I wasn't totally invested in any of the characters, which does make it difficult to really get into. I do like that the characters aren't perfect though, they are flawed, like in real life.

There was a bit of a twist which I always enjoy, because the author played a few mind games. First you think you may know who it is, but then maybe that seemed to simple, but wait, maybe it is, and it twists and turns a bit at the end.

I'd read another book by this author, because I do enjoy the psychological thriller aspect of these stories, but would like to see a few more characters who I could connect with and possibly want to invest more time in.
