I read The Silent Patient last year and loved it so I was excited to read The Maidens. Alex Michaelides does not disappoint! The Maidens draws you in with the first few chapters and you can't read fast enough to find out what is going to happen next. I loved Mariana's vulnerability and I loved watching her character evolve throughout the book. We are given several other options besides Professor Edward Fosca as the murderer. It really keeps you wondering if Professor Fosca is guilty or not. They also make Mariana wonder if she is chasing the wrong man. There are a few characters from The Silent Patient that appear in The Maidens. It was interesting making the connections between the two novels. The twists at the end I did not see coming! I loved this book as much as I did The Silent Patient. I will read anything Alex Michaelides writes. This book is a must read!
