Wow! This author sure knows how to do a gripping introduction. The prologue was amazing, and it was only a page. Yet it did everything a prologue should. It gave insight on what we are about to read, was intriguing and left me wanting to continue. The way the author writes is distinct and practiced. You can tell he has perfected his art of storytelling. The figurative language he uses creates an image in my head that brings the scene to life.
Even within the first few pages, the character development is excellent. I could feel the vibe surrounding our main character Mariana. Starting off her character development with a hardship she has faced makes her real to us as readers.
The suspense and intrigue the author creates makes this a page turner. Ending chapter with fierce mysterious statement is a sure way to keep me reading throughout the night, long past when I should have gone to bed. I loved this author’s previous work and I’m excited to see what he does with this one.
