The synopsis and the author alone gravitated me to the book and got me hooked. You can feel all the emotions from the words written on these pages. Mariana's hatred, urge for revenge and anger towards Edward Fosca pulled me in the prologue. Then as Mariana's story begins, you feel the sadness, the emptiness, the loneliness and the urge of not letting go for fear of losing Sebastian (her boyfriend that you know was killed and how Edward may tie into this). Although Sebastian is dead it seems Mariana is too. Then she gets a call from Zoe and another layer of the story is added. These layers make you want to continue to read and see how things unfold. It keeps you on your toes and alert like a force sucking you in.
Mariana's back story of her childhood and her job as a group therapist adds to the depth and mindset of the main character. She is relatable in many ways and want to continue figuring this book out and how does it all tie together. Does she get justice? How does her group of 8 play into this?
