Wow...the short First Look selection has reeled me in and left me wondering how all these threads laid out by Alex Michaelides are going to be woven together through this book! In just a few pages, it's apparent that the main character Mariana has a complex and troubled past, and it seems her future's about to get complicated as well based on events that unfold in the first few chapters. As a fan of Mr. Michaelides' debut, The Silent Patient, I have been eagerly awaiting his next book--and based on this excerpt, The Maidens will be another thrilling read.
