This was not a book for me. I was drawn in by the mystery and the cover when I was book shopping. The story gave the impression that it would take me on a journey of mystery and maybe a little action. However, this fell short for me. While I appreciated the characters and the hard road that they had to walk, I was kind of bored. The story did not really hold my attention, captivate me, or transport me to another place and time. I so wanted to love this book and I really tried. In the end, it just was not for me. If you like historical fiction that takes a leisurely pace through history and the story, I think you will enjoy this book. There were pieces of the story I liked and enjoyed, but in the end it was just too slow.
