I very much enjoyed this. I wouldn't normally read something about World War II, but this is a very stylish and sophisticate story that I could picture as a classic black and white film by some old-time director.
You basically have three interlocking narratives with the stories of a post-war woman in Connecticut and New York City, an English spy-leader from Eastern Europe, and a half-French / half-English woman who will be sent off to help the Resistance in France.
If you like romance, there are 2-3 romances in this novel, although 1 or 2 of them are what might be characterized as "tragic war romances."
I'm sorry that bad things happened to good people in the story, but if a story like this doesn't have bad things happening, then it doesn't mean as much.
