This historical fiction piece is about women who risked it all to help their country in World War II. I enjoyed learning about the surveillance training that women went through to prepare themselves physically and emotionally to transmit messages as part of the war effort.
Told by three narrators in several time periods-you are brought from headquarters in London and behind enemy lines. This effort was the first of its kind for women and with that brought additional obstacles. There were no illusions that the work would be easy and many of the women left loved ones behind to participate. I was particularly struck by the necklaces they were given with cyanide tablets to take in case they were discovered. I look forward to more works by this author.
