It seems that writers of historical history often choose World War Two as the subject when they wish to write a war novel. Perhaps the choice has to do with the accepted fact that the fighting of this particular conflict was a righteous decision to stop the onslaught of incredibly evil forces. Heroic tales abound about the deeds of men during the war but often women’s stories relate to Rosie the Riviter and keeping the home fires burning and so it is so satisfying to read a story highlighting the fact that women are just as capable of performing great acts of courage.
