I am so surprised by the quality that debut authors are cranking out nowadays. THis book was AMAZING and I honestly can't believe this was a debut novel.
The cover was gorgeous. I loved the illustration; very ethereal. It definitely drew my eye in and didn't let me go. I definitely feel that the colors on the cover illustrated how colorful the inside of the book was.
I loved how strong both of our female leads were. They were very different and yet both of their stories touched my heart and made me feel invested in their fates. I think the detail put into each of their stories made them come to life. It was a bit slow, but I found that I didn't really mind it.
This is my first time reading about characters inspired by Mesoamerican traditions. But I find myself wanting to read more.
My only sadness is that the ending isn't definite! So it's possible that we could get more or that this gaping hole will remain empty.
