Whoa! When was the last time you read a book about ancient mesoamerica? I am obsessed with this representation! Wow I loved the detail when it comes to mesoamerican mythology and culture, this book definitely made me want to look more into the whole culture.
While I don't think I'm the target audience for young adult anymore, I fell in love with the two main characters, they were both so well built out and relatable! I also really enjoyed that the book was told from the narrative of both characters. They were different but both so strong.
The body positivity in this book was also absolutely breathtaking and an absolute delight. I love how the society celebrates individuality which is such a breath of fresh air. Female empowerment will always be celebrated by me!
It's important for me not to spoil anything so all I can say that the ending left me wanting more and I can't wait for the next book!
