I really liked this book and I think it could have been a really good movie (in a different way from George’s classic). I thought the main focused characters were all intriguing although a few places dragged a little more than I would have liked and I would have loved more detail about other (more Lion and the Dove exploits please!). It was a beast of a book, but despite that it was a fairly quick read given it’s size and I think that is due to the excellent writing. I was especially impressed by the writing since it was finished by a different author and I honestly could not tell what parts came from who. I didn’t exactly follow or like where our crew landed on their attitudes and beliefs about the zombies. I don’t think a different reaction to John Doe would have led anywhere except death. Honestly that part is what took me from a 4 to a 5. I understand having respect for who the zombie used to be, but if I wake up from being dead I would want someone to end that for me with some type of blow to the head.
