I won this book in a giveaway from Goodreads. This was my very first zombie/horror book and as much as I wanted to enjoy it, it just wasn’t for me and the size of the book was very intimidating with over 650 pages. I appreciated that the book was extremely well written and had an intriguing story and it is very unfortunate that I struggled through it and ultimately failed to finish reading it.
There were many diverse characters that the book followed, and having so many characters made it a bit challenging to keep up with them and remember who was who. There was definitely plenty of zombies throughout the book. The Living Dead immediately started out with action and horror as it introduced the various characters. I would definitely recommend this book for zombie and horror lovers, but it’s definitely not for everyone. I don’t recommend this book to be anyone’s first book in this genre, simply because it is a long book and a bit hard to get into.
