This book was decent

So here's the thing, I almost finished this book, and I even set it down for a while thinking it just wasn't the time. I picked it back up, and this book was just not for me, but it wasn't bad. This book just didn't hook me as I wanted.

What I enjoyed

Characters

The characters were what kept me reading this book. I enjoyed the family dynamic, and I hoped that the situations in the story would work out in the end. They were interesting to read about, and I wanted to know more about their stories.

Plot

I'm one that goes for characters and character development over plot in stories. This story was good, but it had a bit of jumping around between all the characters, so it got very confusing. The family drama was interesting, and what I wanted to read about.

What didn't work for me

Writing

I don't read a lot of adult novels, but I want to get more into the genre. The writing style in this book didn't work for me at all, and it was one of the reasons I didn't finish the book.

Pace

The pace of this book was so slow, and I just wasn't feeling it. I understand that the story was supposed to be a slower burn, but the pace of this was just to slow for me.
