I loved this book! I was expecting a mystery or thrilled based on my previous experience with this author (the book The Plot and the TV show The Undoing), but I was pleasantly surprised by this work of literary fiction. This family of unlikeable characters—the mother who doesn’t see her kids, the absent father, and the triplets who can’t stand to be around each other—was continually interesting to read about. While the characters’ complaints could be a bit weary after a while—I never understood, really, why the triplets couldn’t stand each other, particularly Sally and Lewyn—I still found their dynamics fascinating and endlessly readable. I wanted more! I admired how the author ended this story, with the “latecomer” sibling striving to bring the family back together. It was a nice way to end the book—though since I never did understand why they were all so estranged (it seemed they were just “born that way”), I’m not sure it had, for me, the emotional resonance the author was looking for. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it!
