I absolutely loved this book. It was moving, funny, and for me it wrapped up perfectly - which is typically a tall order for me!

One thing I will say, readers who loved The Plot (which does include myself!) and some of Jean Hanff Korelitz's other works should be aware that this is definitely a different read. It's definitely not a mystery or thriller. That being said, as a die-hard lover of mysteries I actually think I preferred her writing style when utilized in this family drama. Her writing style has so much dry humor, that even in the most emotional scenes she manages to bring laughs.

Each character is so distinct and fully realized. The author really doesn't shy away from exploring their most serious character flaws but she manages to make you root for them through it all (...well maybe not Harrison, but she really does paint a fully realized picture of him!).

I absolutely recommend this novel to anyone who loves family dramas. This book reminded me a little bit of The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney so if you loved that book I would give this one a try. As I said, this book is totally different from The Plot, but I also loved The Plot so you may be interested in giving this one a try too.
