This was a tough one for me. I really prefer to respect ARCs by fully immersing myself in them and finding constructive and positive remarks even if the book wasn't my cup of tea. Unfortunately I struggled with this book. I haven't even finished it, as it's been such a slog to get through. I don't really know why, it is a well written book and I found the family intriguing in a sense. I think for me the sticking point is that I feel zero connection to any of the family members. They feel like these distant, guarded beings that won't let me in. Plus the pacing is.so.slooooooowwwwww. On top of all that, I started this book on the heels of a big win for me so it had some big shoes to fill. All in all, I will say I don't hate this book. It's a very literary book and it's not grippy and engrossing. If you don't appreciate a slower paced, more literary work, this book will probably not appeal to you.
