Korelitz does it again! The Plot was one of my favorite books of 2021. After reading this first impression, I cannot wait to finish The Latecomer. Korelitz is a master of character development. You feel their feelings. This first impression is no different.
Johanna is looking for something to fill the void as her triplets are about to leave the nest. Their family seems sad and broken as the husband has an affair with Stella. You can feel Sally’s pain when she discovers her fathers indiscretion. You can feel Johanna’s emptiness when she discovers the same and plans a fourth child to fix her broken family.
The cover is intriguing. The three flowers are the triplets and the fourth is wilted. I cannot wait to see what this Latecomer brings to the Oppenheimer family.
