The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe is a great YA dystopian novel. Ally Condie has a very precise way of writing that gives the reader exactly what they need to know to understand the characters and the setting of the story without being bogged down with unnecessary fluff and filler. The adventure of Poe is very exciting and there are multiple parts of the story that had me on the edge of my seat. What I believe I enjoyed the most in this story however, is the incredible role that grief plays on Poe's thoughts and actions throughout the story. Poe struggles throughout the story with loss and Ally Condie does an amazing job of portraying how that loss would have played a role on Poe. It is because of the loss she experiences that she both has guilt and doubt of herself. I thought this was a great representation as many stories would have downplayed the role grief would have played on their main character, especially a character as young as Poe. I highly recommend this read to anyone interested in dystopian/adventure genres.
