The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe is set in a futuristic world where the Outpost is a community constantly in search of gold. After her best friend is killed by raiders who boarded their dredge (ships which collect gold), Poe Blythe becomes the lead technician in designing mechanisms to defend the dredges from raiders. Poe is sent on one last voyage, however she receives strange notes and there is a sinister plot in the background.
I liked this story a lot, there was a lot of good scene setting that did not feel forced. There is good character development and we get a sense of Poe's motives based on her past. One thing I disliked was it was sometimes difficult to distinguish between flash-backs and the present.
