It is hard to put to words all the feelings about this book. It was an emotionally packed story. The book is about grief and learning to live with it and it hit every nail on the head in fully exploring that theme while providing a bit of an adventurous story.

Poe, who is the main character looses her first true love. The one that you think that can conquer the world. And it breaks her. She doesn't become someone inconsolable but uses that grief and anger to create something - she creates weapons. She thinks that she's using these weapons as a way to get revenge for the person she lost. As described in the story, Poe burns - burns with the energy, anger and love for the lost one, but also for the need to survive and live.

I loved the writing. You can feel the somberness that radiates from Poe. With everything she does, the way she leads, the way she reacts - is laced with despair. And in the end when Poe finally understands the meaning of living after a loss - every word has so much meaning. The last page was my favorite.

The one downside was that there's a lot not explained in this book about the world Poe lives in. I gathered it's some kind of apocalyptical world, where people are mostly trying to survive in any way they can. There's not a lot of world building, besides introducing the Outpost and the Dredge. Everything outside those two are mostly unknowns. There is a bit more revealed towards the end, but still not enough to figure out about this world and the different societies.

Overall a beautiful story of Poe. I fully enjoyed it.
