This excerpt was a quick read, but unfortunately, ultimately forgettable. The world-building, with it's vague monikers of the Outpost and the Admiral and the Union, wasn't enough to hook me in. The book also felt very similar to in style to another seafaring YA book released last year that had similar broad strokes world-building. The writing itself is fine, and there's a lot to like in the characters, but this title didn't resonate with me enough to want to buy it.
