I understand that this is Young Adult fiction. However, this writing would be better categorized as pre-pubescent fiction.
The premise of the novel sounds like a gripping story from the synopsis. Unfortunately, the First Look fails to deliver on the promise of a moving tale. I am irritated by the juvenile character and childish writing. Even as a young adult, I would have been turned off by this book. I'm thankful I had a chance to sample it before committing to the entire book.
