This book is fast paced and interesting. I thought I'd get into the characters, but it the history that caught my attention. There is a large cast of characters and none were fully enough developed for me to have more than a passing interest in them, I wish the book had included more backstory for Morgana that might have enlightened the reader about her poor parenting skills and why she treated her husband with such disdain, and more about the her children and some of the homeless characters who played important roles, but the history that was revealed is fascinating. The mystery is a good device for exploring this lesser known part of Savannah's history. The story line kept me reading through the night. While all is explained, I wasn't totally happy with the ending.

The writing style is solid. The cover is visually stunning, but I'm not sure I understand the relevance of the empty Queen Anne's chair. It is mentioned in the novel, but I didn't pick up on it's importance.
