Definitely not a young adult read, but I decided to take a chance on this mystery thriller. I was mildly interested in the topic (not a cozy mystery which is what I usually read when I'm not reading ya). But before I go to far, let's start with the cover.

The cover was very mysterious. A plush chair in a dark swamp. Definitely piques your interest.

Initial impressions? I couldn't help but think of Little Bo Peep when I heard of the tavern's name. But that aside, it was interesting. A little bit unique in that there are 5 chapters. So for me, the pacing was a bit off because I like some more breaks, some more cliff-hangers that keep me turning the pages in the book.

It gave historical fiction vibes mixed with some family drama/mystery. Honestly gave me a Murder She Wrote vibe, except more moody (but that might just be because I'm binging the show). Overall, an okay read.
