The Kingdoms of Savannah by George Dawes Green opens with a man in a bar preying on a homeless woman, culminating in a stabbing and an abduction. It seems like the author is going for an atmospheric feel; I think this book will work best for those who've been to Savannah. I can't quite tell if it'll be a hit for me or not - while it's readable, I'm not yet drawn in.

The cover is interesting: It shows a fancy-looking armchair in the middle of a body of water, with a bird overlooking it.
