The first look of The Kingdoms of Savannah does an excellent job of pulling the reader in, showing them a world that is at once beautiful and dark and historic and tacky. There are colorful characters in spades in the prologue and then chapter one adds even more for good measure. It has a bit of a cozy mystery feel, but definitely grittier.
