Intrigued and unsettled
What I am most curious to see based on the First Look is how the separate stories and characters from the prologue versus the first chapter come together. I didn't get too clear of an understanding of the main characters in what I've read, but I get the sense that we'll see a lot of growth on the part of Ransom.
The author does a good job of establishing tension both within the settings and between characters - sexual, familial, and dislike. Setting-wise, there was a sense of glamor gone seedy and a grittiness to the city and its people.
I am really looking forward to reading The Kingdoms of Savannah.
