First Impression: I love the cover art on this book. It immediately grabbed my attention because it's so different. It looks magical and truly creates the image of a story being told at night with the night sky illuminated by stars, so it creates this visually magical element.

Marie Lu is one of my favorite authors so I have been very excited about reading this book. The concept is such a different take, and while historical fiction isn't always an immediate go-to for me, I am looking forward to reading this novel.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the introduction to this story. The description has me wondering what story is about to be told, but it accomplishes it in such a way that it makes the protagonist immediately interesting.

Update: I bought the book and never wanted to put it down. The world building was really good, but what I really enjoyed was the suspense of learning more about the Kingdom of Back and seeing what would happen to Nannerl. I like the exploration of pushing boundaries of societal perceptions of what women should and shouldn't do.

Without spoiling the story, I love how the author explores the idea of women historically being placed into the background with their talents minimized or disregarded in comparison to their male counterparts. Also, I enjoyed the exploration of the endearing love between two siblings and the possibility of the unknown between the Mozart children. I truly enjoyed this book.
