Just okay for me
This was...something else. An interesting concept for someone else, perhaps, but not for me. I'm not sure what I was expecting going into it, so I can't say I'm entirely disappointed, but at the same time, it's not my favorite type of genre, so that could have something to do with it. While the concept had potential, I felt like the execution sort of fell flat - I didn't find myself super invested in the characters or their storylines - the stakes were just not there. From what I know of the book, Marie Lu had been writing it for some time, only to have it on a shelf to be published later. For me, it definitely felt like it got published due to her popularity, rather than it being appealing on a more widespread level because of the storyline. Unfortunately, this is one where the packaging is really pretty, but the story inside just isn't all that wonderful.
