First off, this is one of the most beautiful covers I have ever seen. I absolutely love it, but can't say the same for the actual story.
While I love Marie Lu as an author, this one, unfortunately, was not for me.
Historical fiction meets fantasy in also a genre bending story.
Here we met with composer, Wolfgang Mozart's sister Nannerl. She is the narrator, also a gifted musician who secretly composes. Through her compositions, she is connected to mirrored world that they, her brother and herself, named The Kingdom of Back, where she hopes to fulfill her wish of being remembered.
The story unfolds in the Kingdom as they grow up in the real world. And while it's written rather beautifully, it just didn't captivate me, even with all the "magic". Maybe historical fiction just isn't my cup of tea.
