I was so very excited about this book, and while it was definitely enjoyable, I was also very underwhelmed by it. The premise of the story was intriguing, and the characters were well developed, and the story was very descriptive, but the story progressed very slowly, and it was difficult to judge the passage of time throughout the entire thing. I couldn't be sure how old the characters were supposed to be at any given time. A lot of the book was just waiting around, with years passing unnoticed. Whenever something did happen, it felt anticlimactic. The conflict would start building, things would start to get interesting, but then I felt like it would all be over before it really got any good. Again, it was an enjoyable read, and an interesting take on history, and I have no regrets about reading it, but I don't think I'll be reading it up again.
